Our approach

The aim is a result that looks natural, not artificial.

With a veneer or crown, the goal is not to make the tooth as white as possible. The goal is that the new work doesn’t look like work — that it fits the face, age and character of the patient.

That is why we deal with shape, surface and the behaviour of light before the shade. A shade is easy to choose; naturalness is not.

  • —We preserve as much of your own tooth as possible — healthy enamel cannot be replaced, only removed.
  • —Adhesive (bonded) solutions where they are enough — they need far less preparation than a crown.
  • —A crown only where it is indicated — e.g. an extensively damaged or root-filled tooth.
  • —Digital design and a mock-up let you see and adjust the result before any tooth is prepared.

How we approach aesthetics

The choice is not a question of a price list but of the extent of damage and what needs to be restored.

Composite restorationBuilt directly in the chair. Suitable for smaller defects, shape changes or minor corrections. Saves tissue but has a limited lifespan.
Ceramic veneersA thin ceramic layer on the front of the tooth. Change shape, colour and position while preserving most of the tooth — if there is enough healthy enamel underneath.
Onlay / overlayA partial ceramic restoration for damaged back teeth. Replaces only the missing part, not the whole tooth.
All-ceramic crownWhere a tooth is extensively destroyed, root-filled or markedly weakened. Protects the tooth but needs more preparation.

FAQ

About veneers and aesthetics

Do teeth have to be ground down for veneers?+

Some surface preparation is usually needed, but the extent varies a lot. For a minimally invasive veneer it is a thin layer of enamel; for a marked change of position or shape it may be more. We know the extent from the mock-up, not during treatment.

Veneers or composite?+

Composite suits smaller corrections, can be repaired and saves tissue, but keeps its colour and gloss for a shorter time. A ceramic veneer is more stable and durable but needs lab work and a more precise indication. For some patients it is sensible to start with composite and consider ceramics later.

Veneers or crowns?+

A veneer covers the front of the tooth and preserves the rest. A crown covers the whole tooth — it makes sense where the tooth is extensively damaged, weakened or root-filled. If a veneer can achieve the result, we don’t recommend a crown just because it is technically simpler.

How long do ceramic veneers last?+

With a good indication, quality bonding and proper care they can last many years. Lifespan depends on hygiene, the bite, bruxism and how much healthy enamel was preserved. We don’t promise a specific number of years.
