How we think about an implant

An implant is more than a screw in the bone.

The result starts before the surgery. We assess the future position of the tooth, the amount and quality of bone, the soft tissues, how easy it will be to keep clean, and the long-term stability of the whole reconstruction.

DiagnosticsCBCT, scans and photos come before the decision.
SurgeryThe implant goes where the bone and the future tooth need it — not just wherever there is space.
BiologyHow the tissues will react in five and ten years, not only after healing.
ProstheticsA restoration you can clean and that can be serviced if needed.
Soft tissuesThe volume and quality of the gum decide both appearance and stability.
Long-term maintenanceRegular check-ups and hygiene are part of the treatment, not an extra.

Immediate implant

An implant straight after the extraction

If the bone and gum allow it, we place the implant on the same day as the extraction — sometimes with an immediate temporary crown, if the implant is stable enough. We always decide according to the specific findings, not as a rule.

Where the situation allows, we prefer this approach. It means one operation instead of two, and according to the available studies immediate implantation helps preserve the volume of bone and soft tissue around the implant.

It matters most in the front of the mouth, where the shape of the gum and the width of the bone decide how natural the future crown will look.

Step by step

How implant treatment works

1
Placing the implant

According to the prepared plan, with a surgical guide where appropriate.

2
Healing and osseointegration

The implant fuses with the bone. We usually wait about three months; the exact time depends on bone quality and the extent of the procedure.

3
Impression / digital scan

A digital scan, or a conventional impression, gives us the data for the final crown.

4
Final crown

A digitally designed crown or bridge is fitted.

5
Regular check-ups

Implant check-up and dental hygiene twice a year — we monitor the bone, gum and prosthetics.

Guarantee

Lifetime guarantee on the implant

We give a lifetime guarantee on the implant itself — the surgical phase. We don’t like one-off procedures after which we never see the patient again; we want to follow our work over the long term and be sure it is stable.

Conditions

  • —Implant check-up twice a year at our clinic
  • —Dental hygiene twice a year at our clinic
  • —Home care as instructed by the hygienist

The guarantee covers the implant screw. The prosthetic part (crown, bridge) has a separate warranty period depending on the material. We discuss the exact scope and further conditions with you individually before treatment starts.

Comparing the options

Implant, bridge or removable denture?

Each solution has its indications. We decide according to the neighbouring teeth, the amount of bone and how the result should work in ten years — not according to what is fastest.

ImplantLeaves healthy neighbouring teeth untouched and loads the bone physiologically. Needs enough bone and time to heal.
BridgeFaster, but rests on the neighbouring teeth, which have to be ground down. Suitable when those teeth are already restored.
Removable dentureThe least invasive and most affordable option, but less comfortable and less stable when eating.

FAQ

About implants

Does placing an implant hurt?+

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. Discomfort after the procedure varies from case to case — we don’t promise it will be painless, but we do our best to minimise it.

How long does an implant last?+

It depends on bone quality, hygiene and regular check-ups. We discuss it specifically for your case at the consultation.

What if I don’t have enough bone?+

We use bone or soft-tissue grafting. Whether it is suitable, and to what extent, we assess from the CBCT scan.

Can I get an implant right after a tooth is extracted?+

Sometimes yes — if the bone and gum allow it. We assess it individually, not as a blanket rule.

Can I send an X-ray or a treatment plan in advance?+

Yes, by email to info@d3nt.cz. It helps us prepare for your consultation.

Are you afraid of the procedure?+

For patients whose main barrier is fear, treatment can be done under analgosedation or, in indicated cases, general anaesthesia. See the sedation page for details.
